Raise your hand if you’ve ever used a projector camera or projector phone for anything but failing to impress people with the fact that you have a projector camera or a projector phone. Okay, if you have your hand up, use it to smack yourself for buying a useless gimmick, and then start praying that this projector viewfinder idea will actually happen.

Instead of forcing you to look through a viewfinder or stare at a tiny LCD, the ClippingLight camera from Osaka University uses an integrated projector slaved to a gyroscope and accelerometer to physically throw a white border up around the edges of the camera’s field of view. There’s squinting and no guesswork: what you see is what you get. It’s a really cool idea, hampered only by the current state of microprojectors (i.e. not particularly useful), meaning that you’ll have to be really close to your subjects and it’ll have to be really dark out for the ClippingLight framing system to work.

The obvious solution to these issues is, of course, to use a laser projector instead. You know, with lasers. That way, not only will you be able to see when you’ve got all of your subjects completely in-frame, but your subjects will know as well, by virtue of whether or not their retinas are currently being burned to a crisp. Toshiba brought out a new line of SD cards, Exceria, that it hoped would be the fastest ever. The entire line is fast enough to meet the UHS-1 speed grade and Class 10, and in many cases is near the peak. The fastest tier of the new cards, Exceria Type 1, can top 95MB per second in read speed and writes at 90MB per second, making it a good fit for speed shooting with more recent DSLR cameras.

A mid-range Type 2 line keeps the read speed and drops to 60MB per second writes for less intensive uses. Exceria Type HD, the budget range, will still write at about 30MB per second and reads nearly as quickly as its peers, at 90MB per second.

The cards will launch in at least Japan on a staggered schedule. Toshiba delivers 8GB and 16GB Exceria Type HD cards in April, followed by a 32GB version in May. The fastest cards come next, with 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB cards due in July. Type 2 appears only in August but will run in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants. All of the cards will follow Japan’s typical open pricing system and should get firmer pricing closer to any US release.

The layout and colors was pleasing for the eyes. I could figure out exactly what the site was about within 5 secs upon visiting the homepage as the logo revealed a lot about them – “Disposable Toothebrush Supplier”. The quality of the logo was however a bit blurred on my firefox. Was it just me? Beside the logo and on the top right was the main menu: home, product, about us and contact (Big fonts and simple to understand).
Beneath the top menu was a flash header image. I wondered if the use of flash was necessary as the effect could easily be achieved with simple javascript. I would also like to see more spacing between the top nav and the header image. Taking a helicopter view of the pages again, I wondered if the 60px LeagueGothicRegular body header H2 font was too big? The facebook news looked OK in the homepage but might bore the users when added to other pages as well.
I found the content a bit long-winded. Pictures tell a thousand words. Perhaps the flash animation for the use of the toothbrush could be put in the header instead and the homepage could fit into a browser without the need to scroll.

The only section that was a bit confusing for me was the “about us” page. The site was clearly selling disposable toothbrush but then the about us page talked about “non profit company” and “providing employment and training support to people with disabilities”. Perhaps that page needed to be relooked.
I also did not think that the author need to put the 4 logos on the footer. These logos should perhaps go into the “about us” or products page.
